Chan Sor Health Clinic 2011

Our first visit to this rural health clinic was in 2011 (picture left).  Yearly, during monsoon season, the health center was flooded making it difficult to treat patients 3-6 months of the year.  Also during the rainy season, a pig farm nearby overflowed filth and disease into the front of the health center.

There was little medicine on the shelves to treat patients.  No way to sterilize equipment.  No electricity.  No staff training on up-to-date procedures and medications.  No full-time physician.

Expectation was to treat 19 villages - 14,000 community members.

• New exterior and interior paint. 
• Paving in the front of the clinic designed to divert flood water from the front and inside of the clinic eliminating filth and debris. 
• New roof. 
• Electricity available for the first time since 1980s.
• Updated medical equipment.
• Pharmacy support.

Medication and staff trainings

Kindredhouse, in partnership with Blessings International, has been able to purchase wholesale antibiotics, vitamins, medical supplies and much more to deliver to Cambodia.

Obstetricians from Australia volunteer their time and expertise to conduct staff trainings on the latest medical procedures and care.

Electricity and community health

Electricity was on in 2016.  It took approximately 2 years to complete this project.  We even bought our own telephone poles!

Community health education events have been very successful.  Topics such as maternal and child health, menstruation hygiene + hygiene kits and hand hygiene have been some of the successful presentations.

Internships 2017

Summer 2017 University interns lived and worked in Cambodia at Heartprint House Community Center for 8 weeks. 

- Hygiene Survey - 200 families surveyed for IRB Approved study

- Feminine Hygiene.  In partnership with Days For Girls, 200+ sustainable hygiene kits distributed through 5 education events

- Dental Hygiene.  700+ community members received fluoride application, teeth brushing education and hand hygiene education

- Community Garden built at Chan Sor Health Center
